Alliance Battles are boring. What could they be missing?
Alright, whenever I decide to ab, it's because I'm really, reaaaaaaaaaaaally bored. I mean it's a pleasant way to kill time if you just wanna play GW, do some quick team testing buildage fun, but it gets sooooo boring. For me why is it? It's probably the map. Not enough of them. We see the same boring maps over, over and over. And whenever I ab, I'm not even the first one to mention it.
I think Anet should bring in more maps. Honestly, who cares if the damn maps are out of context (such as a Nightfall or Tyrian map: Just make some story up that we got luxons and kurzicks around there two that tried to get away from Cantha cause of the hate, but everyone where they went, there it was. Couldn't get away from the hate-or just something.). Or to spice things up. Instead of having just Luxons Vs. Kurzicks, have our guilds also decided if we'd rather fight with the Corsairs or the Kourans. Combine them up. Have war! Instead of 12 vs 12 have it be sorta like HA where you see mulitpile squads facing at once (w/o the stupid elitism and crap).
Not just that add more benefits to the factions. The double faction weekend weeks don't change much. It's still boring, but it would be less boring if we could trade our factions for even rubies, sapphires and diamonds. Give those poor players who aren't green-farming savy to the core to get a chance at a few ks. Just anything.
Dear Anet,
AB is boring. Fix it.
Thanks,
Your Devoted Player.

Theres really one three maps.
Deep Luxon and Deep Kurzick are the same.
Shallow Luxon and Shallow Kurzick are the same.
I think each shrine has to have a whole map effect. Like the Elemental defense shrine gives a whole team +X armor, not in that little area.

AB boring? I disagree. I do think, however, it would be cool to have more alliances, like Sunspear vs Kournans, with their own NF exclusive maps. Factions brought good PvP to the table, Nightfall brought /roll games.

Agreed. Nightfall needs some AB's, dagnabit!
I think it's fun, BTW. Of course, if it's the only thing you ever do, I can see it becomming boring. Diversify yourself. Basketball is fun, but if all I ever did was free-throws, that would get boring pretty damn quick.

If you are refering to Hero Battles, you are wrong.
ArenaNet obviously devoted more time to creating AB. Yet it is still Guild Wars biggest flop EVER.
Hero Battles is getting more support than AB has or will ever dream of. Hero Battles is still new and still getting attention from ArenaNet. And actually is planned to be a featured PvP form.
It will be less broken when there is actually something to play for.
While Hero Battles has some potential, AB is left to rot. Rightfully so, no sense in playing with a dead dog.

All AB needs is a full 12-team mode, and it will be properly envigorated into a REAL pvp format.

I have to disagree. AB's are fun and the best part is that I can play a pvp arena with a team of guildmates and friends without having to go through the hassle of coordination not much farther than 4-4-4, stay together, avoid the mob, and cap (oh yeah...and kill the mm on sight). It's very casual and requires a relative amount of tactics.
By my count, the [any] alliance that holds Cavalon has, oh, 26-28 million faction (don't know the Kurzick count 'cause I don't pay attention). That's a lot of players with Luxon titles that would disagree with the op.
Also, I'd be cool with new maps, hard to change them to Nightfall ones though. But maybe there'd be different Luxon vs Kurzick battlegrounds, that'd be neat.

I agree. That would give it a little more tactics.
Making it 12 man like the preview event would lead to lots of leechers. /notsigned for that.
Making it organized 12 man would also kill it. People do AB for casual pvp fun like RA. Not serious pvp. /notsigned
I wouldnt call AB a flop. There are always people there when I go.

Only decent suggestion in the thread, and it's not a new concept.

AB when it first came out was REALLY fun because i didn't have a care in the world could press enter grab a random team and either win/loss didnt really matter.
and then time moves on

LoL i know this is off the wall, but how bout to make AB more interesting, and more competitive is instead of favor from HA, how bout favor from AB's? Aspenwood? stuff like that. Who ever has control over X point has favor to go UW/FoW. This will then make it so every1 has a chance to do FoW/UW rather than America having to wait till 8pm at night.
Just an off the wall drunk suggestion, dont bash to hard :P

I just hope they have some sort of AB in GW:EN, only with 3 teams instead of 2. 2 Teams should be players and a third team should be NPC's, which can cause imbalances at certain times, making it impossible to really topple 1 of the teams, since the other team can be attacking your rear at any times. Also make the maps bigger and maybe more players per team.
Bigger maps would lead to split-out tactics, which contradicts spike-teams. So this would allow full 12-man teams instead of 4-man times 3. The full 12-man would have to split out, because if they dont, they will loose time capping points.
